New Year's Resolutions for your Pets!

Posted by Kim Taha on

Now that 2016 is just another faint memory, you’ve probably been creating a list of New Year’s resolutions to conquer in 2017. The classic going to the gym every day and eating healthy is most likely at the top of your list, but have you ever thought about if your pets have any resolutions as well? You might think that’s a silly thing to say, but New Year’s resolutions aren’t just for people, they’re for your pets too. Here are 4 New Year’s resolutions for you and your four-legged children!

  1. Teach Your Dog a New Trick! Fido might already know how to sit and lay down. But maybe he wants to switch it up a bit! Try teaching him to play dead, give high fives, bark on command or stand on his hind legs. You never know what your four-legged best friend might be capable of.
  1. Incorporate more play time in your cat’s daily routine! A cat’s daily routine usually consists of eating and sleeping pretty much all day. According to petmd.com cats sleep on average between 15-20 hours a day. That only allows them 4-9 hours to do everything else: eat, sleep, bathe and use the bathroom. If you work a full-time job, this doesn’t really allow your cat much time to play during the day, especially if he or she is the only one in the house. So a new year’s resolution for you and your feline is to play at least a half hour a day. Whether it’s when you get home, after dinner, or before you go to bed. Zany Pet Shop offers a variety of interactive toys for your kitty cat you can find in the store. Not only will your cat love you forever but this will give them plenty of exercise making them happier and healthier.
  1. Measure your pet’s food! Feeding your furry best friend sounds as easy as 1, 2, 3 when pouring kibbles and bits into your fur-baby’s bowl. But have you actually looked at the serving size of your pet’s food? Most dog and cat foods have labels on them telling you how much you should feed them based on their weight. So instead of filling the bowl to the rim, pay attention to how much you are feeding your cat and dogs so they can live a happier and healthier life during 2017!
  1. Walk your dog (or cat) once a day! Putting your dog or cat in your back yard does not mean they will get the exercise they need. When you work a full time job, you might feel too tired to walk your furry best friend in the evening, but your canine or feline child might feel neglected. Not only will walking your dog or cat be happy, but you can get your exercise in too! Dogs need at least an hour of daily exercise and cats need all of the exercise they can get as they sleep most of their days. Since many winter months occur at the beginning of the year and you want to keep your pets warm, Zany Pet Shop clothes can be found here at the online store with a variety of styles and designs.

Zany Pet Shop offers many products to help you and your furry child to maintain your goals for the year. From leashes, to jackets, to toys, you will not want to give up on those resolutions you make for you and your pets. Happy New Year!
